13 hours of travelling is a long way to get to a homemade sound studio, but it turns out it was worth it. Visiting my brother in Fort William to record with some of his students (he's an artist in residence at Lochaber High School, don't you know) was a lot of fun, if very tiring fun. I actually spent more timegetting there than being there, but it was still a great experience, even if I am allergic to his cats.

Moustache and Horace are very good names for cats.

Everybody likes to get paid to do things they like, which is why last night's gig was particularly nice. It was also a lot of fun, and seemed to impress the owners enough to book us again, which is a real bonus. Anyway, just thought I'd tell you how it went.

Playing a gig tonight. Been a while, so I'm looking forward to it (not that I wouldn't be looking forward to it anyway, but it's a bit of a rare treat). Some of my friends have said they might actually come to this one, which is nice. Plus payment in money, which is the best kind in my opinion.

Just been to see the new film by Rick Minnich: 'Homemade Hillbilly Jam', a rather lovely romp through the Ozark Mountains of Branson Missourri, examining some proper country music by proper hillbillies and everything. It's my mum's birthday today! Happy Birthday lesley! I know it doesn't really make that much sense to put my mum's birthday in my blog, expecially when I spent the vast majority of the day in an art block, but it's something to write about eh?

In other news, my mum's childrens' book has a raised a lot of excitement amongst agents and publishers, which is always nice, and I've begun work on my own story, which is proving to be far more difficult than I first predicted. Ho hum...

I finally got round to buying Spirited Away today. It's been my favourite film since the first time I saw it and it took me this long to get hold of it, but I managed it, and the double-disc special edition too!

My dog behaves really well all week and then 20 minutes before my mum gets back from her holiday, she attacks the yucca plant and spills soil all over the sitting-room. I swear she's trying to drive me insane...
